People ask for Boost Mobile at the counter on Beach 20th Street often enough that it is worth being direct about it: BK Wireless does not currently activate Boost Mobile plans. We are not a Boost dealer, we do not stock Boost SIM cards, and we cannot port your number onto Boost for you. What we can do is put you on a prepaid plan that runs on one of the same major networks, at a comparable monthly price, and have you talking and texting before you walk back out the door. If you are already a Boost customer and you are shopping for something else, that is exactly the conversation we have every day.

Boost Mobile is run by EchoStar, which operates its own 5G network and leases capacity from partner networks, so the coverage you get on Boost depends heavily on where you are standing. For customers in Far Rockaway, the closest practical substitutes we can activate are T-Mobile Prepaid and Simple Mobile, both of which run directly on T-Mobile towers. If you have had signal problems on the western end of the peninsula toward Lawrence and Inwood, Verizon Prepaid or Spectrum Mobile are usually the better call. We are not going to guess from behind the counter: bring your phone in, tell us where you actually use it, and we will check coverage and device compatibility before you commit to anything.
How switching works
Switching off Boost at BK Wireless takes about 15 to 30 minutes. We set up the new SIM, confirm your plan choice, and port your number at the counter. Request your account number and transfer PIN from Boost before you come in, and the port usually finishes in 10 to 15 minutes.

- Bring your phone. We check the IMEI and band compatibility first. If it is still locked to Boost, we can check the lock status and walk you through their unlock process.
